When I called Verizon to terminate my wireless service, I thought I was done with them. Then about a week and a half later (the end of the normal billing cycle) I received a full bill from them!

When I called, saying I had terminated service and the amount was incorrect, the rep told me they initially "suspend" service in case people change their minds and want to come back to Verizon. She told me I should have called back and verified the termination the week before (I guess one phone call and porting my number to a different provider wasn't enough proof that I was serious about leaving!).

I am now liable for paying for the 1.5 weeks of no service, when I couldn't use my phone anyway because service was suspended. Every time I think about it I get so *** mad I literally see red!

Monetary Loss: $300.
